5For Impact Exercise Like Running  Sep 07, 2012 By Tom D
Have used these for running for at least 10 years; it's part of staying injury free. First, these replace the insoles that come with the shoes; you remove the originals and replace with these. These are no thicker than the manufacturer's insoles; they will not make the shoe seem smaller. Manufacturer's insoles are fine for the first week or so, but if you're a runner, as an example, the manufacturer's insoles will lose their cushion effect relatively quickly. These will retain their cushioning ability for the life of the product, years. Understand that these are "heavy" as competitors measure footwear; they will be about 2 ounces heavier than the originals on a shoe with a total weight of a little less than a pound. Save your original insoles for your marathons and the shoe's after-life.

There is a blue fabric material bonded to the foot side of the sorbothane. It is very durable. When you finally decide to replace these it will be because you've worn through the fabric, maybe after about 10,000 miles and 15 to 20 pairs of shoes. The cushioning will still be effective though.

Although you can throw these in the washing machine, they do not pick up any odor and there's no need to.

I've had one problem with these many years ago when I did not put one in fully forward in the shoe, leaving a small gap between the insert and the sidewall that caused a linear blister; my error, just sloppy so be sure they're fully seated.

The sizing is good, no trimming.

These are for impact exercise, because of their weight and the fact that they're not "orthotics" I wouldn't recommend them for all day wear.

5Sorbo Air - I wouldn't run without it!  Oct 04, 2013 By Billy C
I am an avid runner..over 30 years of pounding the pavement. I use to suffer from shin splints and knee, ankle problems. I started using Sorbo Air insoles and the benefits were immediate. I buy new shoes every 300-325 miles and just put the Sorbo Air insoles in the new pair. One pair of insoles will last well over 1500 miles!

They are easily trimmed with scissors to fit if they are a little too big. Just take out the shoes insole and place it on top of the Sorbo Air insole with the heels even. Use a pen to trace around the toe area that is too large and trim the excess. Perfect fit. I recommend this product for anyone suffering from shock-impact injuries.

5Excellent insoles  Jun 27, 2013 By Renee K
I use these in all my athletic shoes for improved cushioning. They are durable and have helped me exercise despite a torn meniscus.

3Good cushioning but lacking support  Jul 09, 2014 By P. Opus
I always replace the stock insoles in my gym shoes with some kind of aftermarket insole. It's well known that the insoles that come with most athletic shoes are usually just slabs of foam that compress after a short period of time. An aftermarket model not only helps absorb shock but can also provide support to keep your feet from pronating (leaning inwards) during exercise.

Here are the pros and cons of this model:

Pros:
1. Superior and very durable cushioning. These are some of the best-cushioned insoles I have found, period.
2. Top cover wicks moisture for a cool environment within the shoe.
3. Price is competitive with other good quality replacement insoles (my two other favorites being the Sof Sole Athlete and Spenco Polysorb Crosstrainer models).
4. Made in the USA!

Cons:
1. Sizing is strange on these. I have a size 9.5 gym shoe so I ordered the 9.5-10.5. It fit more like an 11 or 12, it was just huge - both in width and in length. I measured it against a pair of Sof Sole Athlete insoles, size 9-10.5, and it was much bigger. I ended up having to order one size down (8-9), but found the midfoot area too narrow for comfort.
2. These seem heavy when compared to the Sof Sole and Spenco models. Perhaps that is the drawback of such good cushioning. As a walker that shouldn't really be an issue for me, but I would imagine that some runners may prefer a lighter insole.
3. The advertisements I saw prior to buying these claimed that they provide arch support. However, the medial area of the insole is only slightly raised and does not really support my arches very much. I found my arches feeling sore after wearing these for a short time. If you don't need any additional arch support in your shoes, these should be fine. But if you do, I am not sure that these will be right for you.
4. These are thicker than I expected when reading the online description and reviews of these. Some reviewers say they take up no more room in the shoe than the manufacturer's insole. That is not exactly true. While not a thick insole by any means, I would hesitate to describe these as "very thin." They are a little thinner than the Sof Sole Athlete model but not by much. Trimming the toebox to match your shoe's factory insole will likely help create more room in the shoe.

In summary - good if you want to add some shock absorbing material to your shoes, but if you are looking for arch support I would suggest looking elsewhere.
