4Quality kit gets the job done.  Apr 18, 2009 By Writeb "writeb"
This compact kit gets the job done. My only complaint is what I see as a general decline in the Kiwi polish formulation of late. Applications don't seem to last as long as they used to, and you kind of find yourself having to polish the shoes often. Kind of like using saltwater to quench your thirst.

Either way, definitely the kind of kit you want in your closet to spiff up for nice occasions and prolong the life of your brogans.

4Good sho-shine kit for the price.  May 25, 2010 By Samuel Smith
I bought this for use at shining my shoes once a month or so and for special occasions. The kit comes with everything you need to properly shine black or brown shoes. The bristles on the brush are soft enough that they can be sued on any solid leather dress shoe. You will not have to worry about scratching your nice shoes with it. The polish that comes with is of decent quality as well. It will not dry out easily, I have had it for well over a year and only the surface is beginning to dry.

This is a quality set for anyone who likes their shoes to look their best. There are better kits out there but they usually cost twice as much and unless you meticulous about your shoe shining the extra cost is unnecessary.

If you have either black or brown nice leather shoes, this kit is worth it.

5Made my old shoes look like new  Nov 02, 2010 By Zach Attack
I have a pair of black oxfords which got a ton of use due to my job, which required a lot of physical labor, so it was inevitable that they were going to become worn. My shoes had tons of scuff marks, and were not very shiny anymore. After watching a youtube video, teaching me how to shine shoes, I put my new skill to use. I didn't realize just how much of a difference a good coat of cream can make- they look like new now! I highly recommend this product.

4Decent basic kit  Jan 13, 2012 By R. MICKS
If you just want to do some quick, basic cleanup, this is a good, inexpensive kit. The paste works well and the brush does a good job. I wish the sponges came in something that would keep them from getting polish on stuff - i just stick them back in the little ripping plastic bags they came in, not ideal. To do a complete job, you really need to finish with some edge/heel dressing, so just get this to complete your work!

2Below Average Quality  Jan 06, 2012 By Raul G. "Raul G."
I've used Kiwi shoe polishing products on and off for over a decade and recently ordered the Select Shoe Care Kit. Unfortunately either Kiwi's product quality has declined or I'm getting pickier as I enter my 30's because I found this kit to be of poor quality.

The kit contains two polish tubs containing black and brown polish, two polish daubers, a horsehair brush, and a shine cloth. After receiving the kit I immediately set to polish a pair of black Calvin Klein dress shoes and that's where problems began. To open the tin you twist a side mounted wing-nut that's riveted to the canister. After barely applying pressure the wing-nut promptly broke leaving me with a sealed tin of black polish with no easy way of opening. Getting the lid off the polish from that point was no easy feat and required the use of tools. I finally decided to simply drill a small hole in the lid on one side and use a small nail to pull the lid off. It's a tremendous inconvenience and one that I shouldn't have to endure on a brand new product.

The quality problems extended to the shine cloth which is a nothing but a cheap piece of fabric that leaves tons of fabric residue and small threads all over your polish, shoes, and immediate vicinity. The polish itself seems to be just okay. I found the overall quality of the shine to be lesser than other brands like Lincoln or Dr. Martens.

If you're looking for a cheap shoe shining kit you've definitely found it. But even at the price Amazon is selling this kit I would not recommend it.
