Old Reliable Dec 08, 2010

I've always used this brand and I've never seen a white residue on a shoe. Mavens use a hair dryer on the shoe after application so the oil melts into the leather better. Give it a try.

Mink oil IMO is the best thing for polishing leather shoes. It's a great protector. It came a little dinged up in the mail, but no big deal.

Very good water proofing for your outdoor leather shoes! Mar 22, 2012
By jjceo I have a very nice pair of lined leather boots that I wear in the winter. They are German hiking boots and they keep your feet warm and comfortable. I treat them with mink oil to keep them waterproofed as I use them when walking in the snow.
This product is easy to use and fast to apply. Make sure that your boots are clean and dry. I warm mine up with a hair dryer and then apply the mink oil with a soft rag. Make sure to wipe off the excess. I then let them dry and if I need to and quickly buff them with a horse hair bristle brush. These shoes are 20 years old and still look pretty new. Mink oil really protects them from getting water soaked and damaged.
This is a good product to protect your outdoor shoes!

Works as described Jan 17, 2012
By Josh Mink oil really improved the condition of my old work boot and new cowboy boots. As many reviewers suggest use heat (e.g. a hair dryer)to speed up the absorption process. One downside is that it does tend to dull the stitched designs on the cowboy boots. So be aware of that and try to avoid rubbing the oil into the stitching in general.
