Best only for shoe scuffs, not dyeing other leather articles Nov 25, 2010
By Marcus This dye is really only appropriate for shoe scuffs or minor leather touch-ups. It doesn't work well as a permanent dye for things like leather belts, purses, jackets etc. It does not penetrate well and can be removed with various cleaning solvents. The advantage it has is that it can be cleaned from your hands or from surfaces with rubbing alcohol or hand cleaners like Goop. In contrast, the Fiebing's brand dyes are stronger dyes and will penetrate the leather better for a permanent finish. With the Fiebing's dyes you must wear gloves and cover your work area because it will stain anything it gets on and is much harder to remove.

Solved my problem! Sep 30, 2010
By Thumbwhere I had purchased a nice black leather belt (name brand and everything!), which began flaking the color off the blet within a couple of wearings. If I had my receipt, it would have been returned to the store! Instead, I fumed and looked around town for leather dye to salvage this thing. No such luck, NOBODY had leather dye, not even the "better" shoe store in town. Amazon to the rescue! I used the dye according to package directions, problem SOLVED! It worked beautifully, as easy to apply as shoe polish. My belt is once again back in my wardrobe rotation and looking great. Thanks, Kiwi!

Exactly what I needed. May 02, 2010
By Amy My husband was repainting his motorcycle, and he painted it black. The seat was a brownish color and he wanted it black as well. We ordered this product and it worked perfectly. It arrived very quickly and was exactly what we needed.

Weak dye Jul 18, 2010
By Just Me I tried this dye on 3 items white gym shoes was the primary - it appeared streaked and watery. All the products were leather - but this dye had poor penetration.
Kiwi Black Leather Dye Dec 30, 2011
By Virginia Used this on a black leather Coach purse that has been used constantly for 10+ years; it was pretty much an unattractive grey, especially on the strap, handle, and edges. Was leery of using an inexpensive product on an expensive item, but figured I had nothing to lose since the purse was looking pretty sad. Daubed on the Kiwi leather dye, and it worked wonders--the purse is now a uniform, inky black. Easy to apply, no streaking, and easy clean-up. Wouldn't expect this product to change the color of leather, but for renewing or restoring the original color it's great.
