Metal tips are HUGE and do not fit in most shoes. Mar 08, 2011 By James Hall
If you plan to use these in shoes with metal eyelets, I must warn you that the metal tips on these are quite large. Larger than seems necessary/practical. Over 1/8" or 4mm. Not sure why they are so large, seems they could be made smaller to fit in more shoes. They seem well made, and I have already ordered the same laces by footgalaxy without the metal tip. I just wish they posted a picture of the metal tips, or their diameter so that you would know before you buy.

I bought these laces for my 13-hole women's Timberland boots and they are plenty long enough, and seem sturdy. I read about the too-wide metal tips from a previous review, so while i was hoping the eyes on my shoes would be wide enough, i was prepared to have to cut the tips off and reseal/ harden the ends with a candle flame. (Hold end of lace close to, but NOT IN, the flame, rotate lace between finger and thumb a couple of times, move away from flame, blow lightly on the lace end a couple of times to cool sufficiently to safely mold the end with fingers. Repeat if needed. Be careful not to over-melt the lace or burn your fingers. This only works for nylon laces - natural fibers will just catch fire!)

I have no problem with these laces. I bought two pair for my Chippewa and Carolina logger boots. Buy them with confidence, for they are good quality...BUT BEWARE...When you see what they charge for shipping you WILL FEEL like you were RIPPED OFF! This package was an envelope the size of a small napkin, weighing a couple of ounces, (whatever two pair of shoe laces weigh). The laces were not factory packaged but wound into a ball and stuck inside a small, opened plastic bag. Now, I don't care about how it's packaged but I'd like to know how they came up with $5.50 shipping charges for this $7.58 purchase of laces? So again, My invoice detail says $3.79 for one pair of laces and TWO DOLLARS AND SEVENTY FIVE CENTS SHIPPING, then $3.79 for the other pair AND ANOTHER $2.75 shipping charge. A WHOPPING $13.08 for two pair of shoe laces. This is a total RIP OFF! I asked a friend to order these for me so I didn't know about this ridiculous shipping charge. She didn't want to disappoint me by not putting the order through so she just bought them. Had I known...I wouldn't have made the purchase. I can't see any justification for shipping charges being almost as much as the purchase. I purchase everything online so I know what's fair and what is reasonable pricing. Look at their advertisement, they slash the price then double the reduction in the shipping charges. I know I won't be shopping at Foot Galaxy any more. Their greed lost me!

Purchased these to replace the original laces supplied by the manufacturer. The metal tips are better than the plastic tips that unravel easily. Very pleased

This was not a big purchase, so I thought it would beat going into dozens of footwear stores and not finding laces that matched my sneakers. Very much to my surprise, the laces came in a few days and matched my sneakers perfectly. Fast, easy and perfect!
